  • 3D-4D Ultrasound Obstetric Applications

Let it be known that our facility is NOT just a “keepsake fetal photo studio”.
We are first and foremost concerned with the maternal-fetal well-being
thus, the procedures stated above.

What is 3D/4D ultrasound?

3D are the still images that will show you the surface of your baby -much like a photography. 3D images are captured photographs (black & white or sepia).

4D are motion video images of your baby in motion -much like a movie. 4D video is captured on VCD or DVD.

Your 3D/4D ultrasound session utilizes same type of ultrasound as a regular 2D scan.  However, the power or technology does change when moving from 2D to 3D/4D.  It is actually a new computer software in our ultrasound systems that creates these remarkable images.

Let it be clear that 3D4D imaging as a method of investigation for studying fetal abnormalities should only be used as a second opinion to confirm any anomaly previously suspected on a 2D ultrasound.

  •  FIRST TRIMESTER 3D/4D OBSTETRICAL APPLICATIONS
    • Pregnancy localization (if intrauterine or ectopic)
    • Assessment of early human development
      • Clear clinical assessment of early stages of growth & embryological phenomena)
    • Assessment of embryonic and early fetal body movements
      • Body & limb movements can be visualized a week earlier than with 2D
  •  2nd and 3rd TRIMESTER 3D/4D OBSTETRICAL APPLICATIONS
    • More vivid display of fetal normal anatomy
    • Clearer assessment of antomic defects
      • 3D4D ultrasound can provide more details & information to confidently diagnose defects (e.g. cleft lip, cleft palate)
    • Precisely evaluates the fetal skeleton
      • Vertebral & spinal cord malformation
        • Spina bifida; fetal scoliosis
      • Craniofacial anomalies for diagnosis of Down’s Syndrome and other trisomies
      • Better analysis of limbs
    • Accurate evaluation of the fetal heart
    • Accurate evaluation of the anterior abdominal wall
    • Clearer assessment of fetal well-being, behaviour and movements
    • Provides clearer assessment of abnormal placental adherence and abnormal umbilical cord attachment
  •   3D/4D Modalities as a Tool for CREATING A POSITIVE FETAL-PARENTAL BONDING

3D4D Ultrasound  has been shown to provide a positive bonding experience between the mother, father, family members and their unborn baby.

The realistic, almost portrait-like surface images  and real-time video inside the womb provide a connection between parents and the unborn child that can be beneficial to the whole family.

3D4D imaging helps develop the pregnant women to be more responsible during their pregnancy (motivation to refrain from smoking, Drinking, & other harmful behaviors), creates more strength to endure pregnancy-related difficulties, reduces anxiety and heightens anticipation of their baby’s birth.
